Vinous 91 points - Brilliant ruby. Vivid red fruit and floral scents are complicated by hints of smoky minerals and white pepper. Graceful, focused and appealingly sweet, with very good lift to its fresh raspberry and rose pastille flavors. A textbook example of this estate’s style, offering a suave blend of power and finesse. Closes spicy, sweet and long, with smooth tannins building slowly. 91-93 Points  (Apr 2015)

Wine Spectator 91 points - Features a solid core of kirsch and crushed plum fruit, augmented by red licorice, shiso leaf and singed sandalwood notes. Offers a fine-grained structure, with a light, lingering echo of iron. Best from 2016 through 2022. 4,500 cases made. -JM  (Nov 15 2015)

Wine maker notes
The historical wine from the estate. Mainly coming from old vines of Grenache, a classic Chateauneuf-du-Pape exhibiting its 1/2 terroir with lots of depth. Production 45000-55000 bottles.

Various sources report that in 1957 a deed was signed before a solicitor which concerneda plot of vines located in 1/2 ad montem Olivetti but it wasn’t until the begining of the XXth century that the association between the Sabon family and this locality was forged. Seraphin Sabon, a native of the the neighbouring village of Serignan du Comtat married Marie, daughter of Romain Jausset, landowner at Chateauneuf-du-Pape. In 1932 they created the 1/2 Clos Mont Olivet Since then the domaine has passed through the hands of Joseph, eldest son of Seraphin and then his children. Today it is Celine, David & Thierry SABON the grandchildren of Joseph who manage the estate.
