Red Burgundy wine is principally accounted for by the three departments of Yonne, Cote d’Or and Saone-et-Loire. It is the northern wine region producing high end reds. Pinot noir is the grape on which all the red Burgundy appellations are based, from the most modest to the most prestigious.
